Wilhelm Wagner studied at the Hanau Academy and became a noted German Expressionist printmaker primarily influenced by Egon Schiele. Wagner was also an accomplished landscape painter and watercolorist, often depicting scenes of Berlin. This painting shows the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin prior to World War II.
