Fumiaki
Fukita is a pioneer in contemporary Japanese printmaking and
an innovator in the development of woodblock print techniques.
Fumkiaki Fukita first achieved recognition at the São
Paulo Biennial in 1967. Fukita founded Japans first college
printmaking department at the prestigious Tama Art University
where he taught for many years. In 2006, Fukita was the subject
of a retrospective exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum. Fukita's
work is in the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the National Museum
of Art, Tokyo; the Seattle Art Museum; and the San Francisco
Museum of Art.
