Carlos
Belaunzaran studied at the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas.
In the 1960s, Belaunzaran exhibited at the Instituto Hispano-Mexicano
and at the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City (a painting exhibition
organized by the Organization of American States). He also exhibited
at the Caracas Biennial, the Pan-American Union Gallery in Washington,
D.C., and the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. He belonged
to a generation of painters that included Manuel Felguerez, Francisco
Toledo, Arnaldo Cohen, and Jose Luis Cuevas. In the 1970s and
'80s, Belaunzaran became a well-known and prize-winning filmmaker.
