Allen Ingles Palmer

American
1910-1950

A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Allen Ingles Palmer studied at the Corcoran School of Art, the Pennsylvania School of Industrial Art, and with Henry Hensche in Provincetown, Massachusetts. In the 1930s Palmer became a prolific illustrator while continuing to pursue a career as a fine artist. Specilizing in watercolor painting, Palmer exhibited regularly in the 1940s, including exhibitions at the American Watercolor Society, the New York Watercolor Club, Audubon Artists, Salmagundi Club, and the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Tragically, Palmer died in a plane crash in 1950.
